ACP FAMELINE: The Secret to Long-Lasting Beauty Is Consistent Maintenance
From a design perspective, Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) is a material known for its durability, lightweight structure compared to other materials of the same size, and high flexibility in design. It allows architects and designers to create various forms freely (Free Form), such as cutting panels into different shapes, folding, bending, curving, or even perforating the surface to achieve unique architectural expressions.
ACP by FAMELINE is available in six color collections—Solid, Metallic, Metal Sense, Anodized Look, Iridium, and Timber—making it suitable as an exterior façade material that can complement a wide range of architectural styles.
However, one of the key challenges in selecting façade materials is the constant exposure to harsh environmental conditions, including UV radiation, rainwater humidity, and increasing levels of air pollution. Over time, these factors may cause moss stains, color fading, or deep rain streak marks, gradually making the building appear worn or poorly maintained.
What truly differentiates façade materials in the long run is proper and continuous maintenance from the beginning, also known as Proactive Maintenance.
Examples include selecting materials with protective coatings that reduce dust and pollution adhesion, designing drainage grooves to prevent rainwater streaks from running across the surface, or choosing innovative materials with self-cleaning properties that help wash away contaminants during rainfall.

Proper Cleaning Is the Core of ACP Maintenance
However, without periodic inspection and proper maintenance over time, façade materials may still suffer long-term deterioration. This is why correct cleaning practices are a crucial factor in preserving both the material condition and the architectural image of a building.
ACP panels may gradually change in appearance if dirt and pollutants are left on the surface for too long, allowing stains to penetrate deeper into the coating layer. Improper cleaning methods can also cause damage—for example, using highly acidic or alkaline chemicals, or sharp cleaning tools that scratch the surface.

Such practices may damage the protective coating film that shields the aluminum core, resulting in uneven color fading and the permanent loss of the material’s distinctive finish. In many cases, restoring damaged ACP surfaces can cost significantly more than performing routine cleaning.
More importantly, poor façade conditions may negatively affect the overall image of the building, potentially lowering the perceived credibility and professional standards of the organization occupying it.
For this reason, ACP cleaning should be viewed as part of a broader Maintenance Strategy—one that helps extend the material’s lifespan while preserving the asset value of the building throughout its lifecycle.

5 Standard Steps to Maintain ACP Surface Quality
FAMELINE has established recommended cleaning guidelines for ACP panels to help preserve product quality and surface appearance for the longest possible time.
These guidelines can be summarized into five standard steps:
- Rinse the panel surface with water from top to bottom
Use moderate water pressure to remove dust, dirt, and loose debris attached to the panel surface. - Use diluted mild cleaning solutions
Suitable options include soap water, mild dishwashing liquid, car shampoo, or glass cleaner. Avoid corrosive or aggressive chemicals such as toilet cleaners, caustic soda, or bleach. - Remove stubborn stains carefully
If stains cannot be removed with standard cleaning agents, diluted IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) at 30–50% concentration may be used. Always test the solution on a small, hidden area first to prevent potential surface damage, or consult a specialist before use. Afterward, rinse the surface again with mild soap and clean water. - Use soft cleaning tools
Soft sponges or cloths should be used to prevent scratches. Always check cleaning tools beforehand to ensure there are no trapped particles such as sand or debris that may damage the panel surface. - Clean the panels at least 1-2 times per year
Annual cleaning helps maintain the surface appearance and ensures the façade remains visually attractive over time.

Consistent Maintenance Is a Long-Term Investment for Buildings
Although ACP surfaces typically use PVDF coating systems, which are widely recognized for their high-performance durability, long-lasting beauty does not depend solely on the quality of the material itself.
Instead, it relies on consistent and proper maintenance practices. These include selecting neutral pH cleaning solutions, ensuring the quality of cleaning equipment, and scheduling regular inspection cycles to prevent unnecessary long-term repair costs.
In many ways, façade maintenance can be seen as a long-term investment in the value of a building asset. Buildings that are well maintained often benefit from reduced repair risks, protection against deep material corrosion, improved urban aesthetics, and increased market value.
A clean and well-maintained façade also enhances the confidence of tenants, visitors, and investors. After all, a building façade does not merely represent architectural beauty—it also reflects the professional standards of building management, which has become an increasingly important factor for sustainable business operations in today’s world.
